PS: what do you find when you google your name?! Old skool GW polo picture!
After yesterdays epic fail on the trail (that rhymed!) I figured I need a better start to this training experience! I had a pretty sleepless night after the run yesterday. After collecting my guts, or what was left of them, I went back over to Cavvitt to talk with other members of the group about my committment to running a full marathon in two months. A lot of the members said they supported me, but this might be a lofty goal. This road heavy on my mind all night as I was tossing and turning in our 80+ degree house. I did not get much sleep, and woke up pretty groggy. I woke up and had a big heartwarming bowl of oatmeal (thought it would make me feel better) and decided it was time for a morning run. I was not planning on running today after yesterday's deal, but it must be that runner's bug, I had to do it!
Hit the pavement for what I hear is an easy transition after running trails. This is very true, it is way easier to find your rhythm on the road since your not watching out for roots and rocks etc. I only made it 3 miles before I felt the oatmeal trying to have a repeat of last night's fail. I was okay with that though. I notice if I dont space out my workouts, they generally do not go as well.
We headed to Fleet Feet in Fair Oaks to visit Kirk (the individual that talked me into racing). He had put together a training plan for me that we were going to review. When we got there it all seemed very do-able and I was offically commiting myself to completing this task. While we were there I picked up my GPS watch as well as a new hydration system (hopefully the bystandards are safe with this one). Learning a new sport is always about figuring out what works and what doesn't. For now we are trying out new socks and new hydration system. Tomorrow will be my first run with both. Will post sucess or defeat.
Worked into my training schedule is xtrain days. I officially am on a CrossFit hyiatus as of a few days ago. I cancelled my membership for bigger/new opportunities (Trail running). My cross training during the training program will consist of lap swim, an old friend from a few years back. Today D and I jumped into the Roseville swimming pool and swam around 2700. Not bad for having been out of the water for close to a year! The pool was warm, but I have a fealing this will be good for lung capacity and endurance. Tomorrow I plan on running K2 in Auburn and hopefully some single track milage in.
1) hours of sleep: 7ish--> felt actually okay throughout the day
2) Diet, eh can't remember, it worked for swimming though.
