Well this week I finally gave into my "issue" with my ankle/foot. I REFUSE to call it an injury! I headed to fleet feet on Tuesday hoping to get a magical answer to my worries. Instead I ended up with a couch card. "Sit down and rest for two days". I wanted to throw a tantrum! In fact I did once we got on the car and drove away. I rested Tuesday, fine. I will ice and chill. I think D was happy because he says I have a "running problem". A problem where I rather spend time on the trails then with him. Eh what can you do?!
Wednesday I planed my sneak attack. I went up to Auburn to shadow the flight nurses on Calstar. FTR had a K2 run planned that I had been planning to attend for two weeks. I was told to rest two days. You know your an addict when...I hid my running clothing and shoes in my car and told D I wouldn't be home till after dark because that is when flight cut off time is. I had all intentions of going on the run until I got an email. This email was from the individual that had the nerve to tell me to rest for a few days. I knew I was busted. He was going to run the same trail to make sure I was not out at K2 running. It was horrible. I felt myself wanting to cry again. Its amazing how hard life can be when you are told to sit sedentary! I know it will be for my benefit but this whole taper/rest business sucks!
Thursday I decided I could run because I rested for a few days. I treated myself to 5 miles out at Sterling Point. The weather was AMAZING and I got to run with my running partner. She had been on vacation and I we had not run together in about a month. We hit the trail and got caught up. The ankle felt good the entire time however, the trail started with downhill which froze my left calf up. I have NEVER had a calf cramp like this. I radiated to my shins and I felt like I had shin splints as well! I know it was an electrolyte issue, but not what I wanted as soon as I hit the trail. This cut our run short. I really wanted to do 8 miles, but I will settle.
Tonight, going out to Cavitt. Heard the race goes up to this ugly water tower I am vaguely familiar with. Hello hill repeats! I will rest tomorrow due to work (blah!). Sunday going out for 12 miles at Flemming Meadows (Sly Park).
