Half Redemption...BSB

After taking a LONG agonizing break due to work and life being crazy, I hit the trail yesterday for a short run. We hit the second half of the BSB trail to be exact and boy was it a shocker. I took off running and my legs felt AMAZING! Its crazy what four days of rest can do for you! We started diving into the canyon and hit ridiculous walls of H-E-A-T. When we left the car it was 95 which means it was at least 100 degrees in the American River canyon. Still feeling pretty good we decided to take it relatively easy in preparation for the Run on the Sly race this weekend. This will be my first official half marathon. Even though my mileage is up to 17 right now, I will back it down for a bit just to hit this milestone on the way to my marathon in September.

When I told people I was signed up for the SNER marathon in September everyone said, "cool, which half's (marathons)have you done". I would look at them sideways and say, "none". YIKES! If looks could kill, they were terrified that I had taken on this task without any real running experience.

Back to yesterdays run. As we were feeling pretty good leg wise, we were suffering cardio wise. It was hot and I feel like taking 4 days off was a stupid idea. I was breathing deep and hating life. Good thing is at least I had a new running skirt to try out! As we came back into Railhead Park I started to feel the ball in my stomach. I stood there for a second and then excused myself as I began to get the salty "I am going to loose my cookies" feel in my mouth. There I was, hands on knees, dry heaving. I was praying something would come out because it would make me feel better. I stood up, looked at KC my running partner and said, "I got to get out of here!".

Tomorrow I run an easy Cavitt loop, maybe that will be redemption part II?
